SUMMER CAMP 2024 SESSION 6

BLOCK PRINTING & SCREEN PRINTING CAMP

Dates: July 29th - Aug 2nd

Time: 9:00 am - 2:30 pm

Age: 7 - 12 years old

During this hands-on summer camp, kids will learn how to carve their own blocks for printing on fabric and paper, and create stationary, mini journals, textiles, a wall hanging, zip pouches and much more! Each kid will learn about how to create a cohesive set of work, and end up with a matching set of paper and textile products at the end of the week.

This is an age old technique that is still very popular today. The kids take a simplified graphic approach to this beautiful art form as the Japanese did that has influenced art and design in the 20th century and beyond.  Matisse, Mary Cassatt, Picasso, William S. Rice and Walt Disney are a few famous artists that have been influenced from the art of block printing. This is a fun  immersion-based fine art class that is great for producing a lot finished prints and beautiful art  pieces.

9:00-9:30 am -Arrival / free time / intro

9:30 -10:30 am - Session 1

10:30 -10:45 am -Snack/Mini Recess

10:45-12:00pm -session 2

12:00-1:00pm – Lunch/Recess

1:00-2:00pm – session 3

2:00-2:30pm – Wrap up for home

*There will be collaborative team art projects, active games, storytelling, lunch outside at the local park or under our shaded area, ice cream parties and much more!
